First Three Days, First Three Holes (First İmpressions)

Hi everybody!
To be able to write about this topic, I read the first 50 pages of “Holes” by Louis Sachar. First of all I can easily say that “Holes” is far far better than the book we have read in summer, “The Big Mouth and Ugly Girl”. It may even be the first book as an assignment which I enjoyed reading. Truth be told, I had concerns about the book before reading it but the plot was interesting for me (at least the begining of the plot) and I didn’t get bored. Also the language Louis Sachar used is understandable. So I could read the book without any trouble.

“Holes” is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats, who was sent to Camp Gren Lake. That place is where bad boys are sent to make them better people for the society. However Stanley didn’t commit a crime. He was just “in the wrong place at the wrong time”. If you’re looking for a book, in which you can both get excited and improve your English, “Holes” by Louis Sachar is a very good option ( or just watch the movie, it would be more enjoyable J).

Beside all of that, there are of course questions waiting for answers:

Who is Walden?
What are the holes for?
What is interesting for Walden?
What type of crime did Zero commit?
What happened to Elya after he came to America?

Enough for my first entry, I think
May the force be with you.

  3. First of all, one does not simply post a picture of Yoda on their reading blog. Secondly, I doubt the movie adaption would be better or more enjoyable than the book because a movie can't tell you how the characters feel as good as a book and the parts the author wants the reader to imagine are mostly already imagined for you.

May the Force be with you too.

  4. Your post is very helpful to get some information about the book before reading. The last picture is very interesting but doesn't accord to this entry...
